Because as soon as they get involved, the rule seen on the "Dumbest Way Possible"-T-Shirt applies. Then everything is done in the dumbest way possible to make it easier for Morty and Co. That this usually results in catastrophic consequences seems to be understood by no one except Rick. But that's life as a genius. ;)
